Donations

Life can be hard when someone is coping with a long term illness like kidney disease and it can affect his/her ability to work and live life to the full. Your contribution to the Peradeniya Kidney Protection Society will go a long way in touching the lives of those affected by kidney diseases.
When making a financial contribution you might wish to consider several options, such as one-time donations, or even regular, repeated donations made throughout the year. Your donation can even be earmarked to honor special occasions in your loved one’s lives such as birthdays, anniversaries or in memory of someone who has passed.
Whichever way you contribute, be it big or small, it will be appreciated by us and it will help to ensure proper treatment and maintain the highest possible quality of life of these patients.
Your gift of love can be made to the Patients Welfare Fund

Our main goal is to provide welfare to patients and their families.

  1. Funds are required to
    • provide sponsorships for the children with kidney disease
    • perform investigations not done in the government sector
    • pay a monthly allowance for haemodialysis patients to cover their traveling costs, loss of income etc.)
    • purchase dialysis catheters when not available
    • buy crucial medications for kidney transplant patients at times when there is a shortage in the government sector
    • provide regular refreshments for patients during dialysis
    • pay a monthly allowance to CAPD patients to cover CAPD solutions, transport costs, cost of consumables eg: gauze, alcohol  hand wash etc.
    • set up CAPD at home (house renovation, purchasing a pressure cooker, BP apparatus, weighing scale etc.)
    • set up appropriate self-employment
  2. Building Fund
The building fund is one you can contribute to. It will help the society to meet some costs related to the kidney unit that is being built in the Peradeniya Teaching Hospital. Funds may also be utilized to purchase necessary equipment, and consumables and also for maintenance of the building when requested.
At present the society is supporting the building fund by paying for the refreshments to the army officers who are working tirelessly to complete the project.
We will need contributions to purchase equipment that are not supplied by the Ministry
    of Health.
  3. Education & Training
The society aims at providing sponsorships for awareness programs organized by the Paediatric & Adult Nephrology Units for patients, and training workshops on dialysis & CAPD for health care providers.
  4. Research Fund
One of the objectives of the society is to assist young researchers who are involved in research related to kidney diseases. Our aim is to fund at least two projects yearly which may be increased in future depending on our capacity.
  5. Miscellaneous
Donors could suggest other projects, or aspects that they would like to finance.  These can be scrutinized by the executive committee for a final decision.

We are so grateful for your support
